BENEFITS:

Medical research has shown regardless of your fitness goals, age, or overall lifestyle, Assisted Stretch will quickly increase your range of motion, improve your performance, and reduce your overall risk of injury. It also treats muscle tightness, joint imbalances, and tissue restrictions that cause movement distortions, aches and pains, and increased risk of falls and injuries. .Additional research has found that athletes can reduce their risk of non-contact injury during training and competition.

Description:

Assisted Stretch is a key element in Integrated Stretch Therapy, a scientific protocol encompassing various techniques to treat certain physical problems associated with tight muscles and restricted joints. When performed properly, Assisted Stretch can help prevent injuries and improve performance while immediately increasing range of motion, reducing muscle tension, & improving movement quality.

How it Works:

Muscle flexibility is affected by several factors. Overall, neural signals to the muscle tissue play a significant role in your muscles’ ability to completely lengthen, or release. During a 40 minute session, as you comfortably relax on a massage table in a quiet room, the practitioner will perform techniques such as static and perpetual stretching, compression, foam rolling, and targeted with opposing muscle contraction release methods. You will immediately increase your flexibility largely in response to the stimulation of receptors that tell your muscles to relax or contract. The stimulation of these receptors leads to an overall relaxation of your muscle fibers in the short term and over time, Assisted Stretch sessions cause more a permanent elongation of your muscles through changes to the resting length of the tissue itself. Training your muscles to stretch and release tension!

GENTLE & RESTORATIVE CHAIR YOGA WITH VENAE

CALL 706-669-9166 TO REGISTER & FOR MORE INFORMATION:

BENEFITS:

Medical research shows yoga is linked to decreased levels of stress, anxiety, and depression, lowered cholesterol and blood pressure, improved energy, better sleep quality, less pain, and reduced body mass index. Matt Minard PT, DPT, physical therapist with Atrium Health in Charlotte, NC, believes those benefits extend to chair yoga.

Description:

Chair yoga, a gentle form of yoga that’s done while seated or using a chair for balance, makes the practice more accessible. In chair yoga, it’s possible to move into poses like cat/cow, warrior, sun salutations and forward folds, all while seated. Chair yoga is particularly well-suited to people who use wheelchairs and those rehabilitating after surgeries, living with chronic illnesses, or dealing with balance issues that make it hard to get down onto a yoga mat. It’s also perfect for a quick workout during the workday or while traveling.

How it Works:

One of the main benefits of practicing chair yoga is that it’s a great alternative for those who struggle with traditional yoga. As we mentioned, the practice of chair yoga was originally developed with an arthritic yogi in mind.

But, this form of yoga isn’t just great for those suffering from arthritis. It can also help sufferers of carpal tunnel, chronic pain, osteoporosis, and multiple sclerosis. It can also benefit those who are over a certain age and have trouble working through the up and down motions of traditional yoga.
